Good Deed Awards

Program Information

THE PROGRAM

The GOOD DEED AWARDS Program for New Jersey Teens, established by Chabad of East Brunswick, will reward New Jersey teenagers for their fine example of good deeds, kindness and their pioneering activity in the transmission of moral values and a positive, communal identity. With its primary focuses on servicing the following areas; animal shelters, food banks, soup kitchens, drug abuse, women's shelters and working with low income families and their communities, The GOOD DEED AWARDS program recognizes students whose independent good deeds contribute to their communities quality of life.  We honor those who share their time, talent and resources for the benefit of others.

The Awards event this past year took place at a VIP Awards Ceremony at The Trenton Statehouse, Assembly Floor, on May 23, 2012. This upcoming year's date will be announced in the coming month.

THE PURPOSE

At a time when the negative, such as crime, murder and drug abuse in schools make the headlines, The Good Deed Awards sets out to identify the vast good so inherent in our youth by offering opportunities for them to volunteer in the many areas we service. With one voice, business, government and community leaders come together to honor and thank outstanding teenagers for their significant achievement, excellence, effectiveness and creativity as positive role models. Their good deeds, kindness and generous demeanor are to be an inspiring example to their peers and the community at large. The program focuses on servicing the following areas; animal shelters, food banks, soup kitchens, drug abuse, women's shelters and working with low income families and their communities.

NOMINATION FOR AWARDS

Nominations of deserving students for consideration of the GOOD DEED AWARDS are welcome from anyone concerned with the future of our youth. We encourage nominations from educators, teachers, school principals, clergy, community leaders and professionals of all religious denominations and institutional frameworks. The Awards are open to all teenagers grades 6-12 regardless of race, color, religion or affiliation. All nominees must be enrolled in a public, private, parochial or other kind of educational endeavor.  Neither student self-nomination nor nomination of immediate family members will be considered.
